MS Research Australia is proud to have been named the 2017 Telstra Business Awards NSW Charity Award Winner. Alongside this prestigious award, MS Research Australia also took out the top NSW award, being named the Telstra NSW Business of the Year. The Telstra NSW Business of the Year is judged across all award categories and all entrants in the 2017 Awards and MS Research Australia is the first not-for-profit to be awarded the highest NSW Telstra Award.
Announced in Sydney at the 25th annual Telstra New South Wales Business Awards, MS Research Australia, was formally recognised for our innovation, global collaboration and commitment to our cause. This award recognises MS Research Australia as a leader in the internationally coordinated effort to find a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS), as well as celebrating the success of our global fundraising campaign Kiss Goodbye to MS. The Telstra Business Award judges were particularly impressed by the progressive approach to digital technologies taken by MS Research Australia, and the incredible research progress that has been made over the last 14 years.
The Telstra Business Awards showcase the achievements and entrepreneurial spirit of Australia’s best small and medium businesses and more recently, charities as well. MS Research Australia is honoured and humbled to be awarded these prestigious awards alongside some other incredible NSW businesses.
Telstra Group Executive, Consumer and Small Business, and Awards Ambassador, Kevin Russell, said the winners of the 2017 Telstra New South Wales Business Awards demonstrate what it takes to become ‘that’ business – a leader in their field, a name that is trusted and admired and an organisation that inspires others.
‘The New South Wales winners are all driven by a desire to address problems affecting everyday Australians – from new parents to new business owners – and are successfully using technology as the platform for making those ambitions a reality,’ he said.
‘MS Research Australia is the definition of innovation, leading the global charge against MS with its pioneering research methods. They’re a great example of an organisation using digital technology to remain at the forefront of the MS conversation and associated medical developments.’
MS Research Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Matthew Miles, says our efforts will only intensify as we edge ever closer to eradicating the disease altogether.
‘Until we find a cure – and we’ve made incredible progress towards that – we will devote our attention to ensuring we are completely and utterly aligned with the needs of people with MS. We are at a tipping point and the finish line could potentially be in sight,’ he said.
Dr Lisa Melton, Head of Research at MS Research Australia was privileged to accept the Award on behalf of the team and said ‘It is such a great honour to be awarded not only the Telstra NSW Charity of the Year but to receive the top honour of Telstra NSW Business of the Year.’
‘It is a testament to all the people with MS and all of the supporters who have put their faith in us over the last 13 years and entrusted us with their funds and their hope – to accelerate research, to accelerate solutions, to bring treatments forward and bring us step by step closer to a cure for MS.’
MS Research Australia is a small team of passionate people. Our team are dedicated and committed to finding a cure for MS. This award is an incredible accolade and MS Research Australia is proud to be honoured with these two awards.
