A note from our CEO: Rohan Greenland – July

Work has begun in earnest this month on developing a new strategic plan for MS Australia and its recently amalgamated subsidiary, MS Research Australia – and we need your help to do it!

The strategic plan will be the first for the combined entity that is the new MS Australia, embracing both our world-class research program and our sharply focused advocacy work.

Last week we invited the broader MS community to complete a survey covering both our research and advocacy missions. Your views are critically important and will help us to determine the direction that MS Australia will take for the coming five years.

I know not everyone is a fan of surveys. It seems we can’t go to the supermarket these days without getting an email afterwards wanting to know about our purchasing ‘experience’ – even if we only went there to buy toothpaste. This survey, however, is extremely important and I suspect you will be pleased with the questions we’ve asked.

There are two reasons for this. First, the survey is based on a previous survey that was sent out in 2016. That survey was well-received and had a robust response. Secondly, we road-tested the survey earlier this year and were again encouraged by the feedback. Another thing that annoys people about surveys, and I, for one, definitely feel this way – is that we fill them in but rarely hear the results. We certainly won’t let this happen and we will provide you with the survey outcomes and some analysis to see how views may have changed since the 2016 survey.

To those of you who have already completed the survey, I’d like to say a big thank you. To those who haven’t yet done it, please help shape the future direction of your national MS organisation. All responses are anonymous and it will only take 20 minutes to complete. Please click here to participate.

Your contribution will assist our Board set our course for the coming five years as we seek ways to supercharge our research agenda and make sure our advocacy work reflects the needs of all people living with MS.  These are exciting times and we are determined to drive the changes needed to improve the lives of everyone living with MS and to find the fastest pathway to a cure.
